I commiserate with your comments about books from the library. If I borrow a decent size book & it grabs me I usually try to buy it if I can find it cheaply enough. The worst is when it's been reserve and you've no choice but to take it back. We listened to a great audio of Wolves of Willoughby chase on a long car trip & Girl of the Limberlost made me cry.
ReplyDeleteI try to buy the book as well Carol. I generally use the library to test-run books or for books I don't think I will want to own. Or for when the Canadian dollar's sinking makes books much more spendy than I prefer. I like books and good deals. :)

DeleteThe Ferris Wheel book and the one about Roget are books we recently checked out from the library too! We enjoyed both of them quite a bit. I particularly liked the illustration style of the Roget book. I'll have to see if I can find any of these other ones.
ReplyDeleteAmber, thanks for commenting and sharing your thoughts on the book list. I'm reading Freckles now, which came before Girl of the Limberlost, it seems equally good although I am barely into the meat of the story.
DeleteAnd I meant to add - I absolutely loved Girl of the Limberlost! The characters and the natural history were wonderful.
