summer living

Our new home construction is underway and we are excited by the weekly progress we see in the building site. All the selection sheets have been completed and the decisions made for colors and materials. Now we watch as our home takes shape and I try not to worry about what it will all look like in the end. We took some of the standard offerings but also made some custom changes which we think are better suited for our family.  With July almost over, we still have three more months before the tentative closing date so the watching and waiting continue.

We traveled to my parents the first week of July and spent the heat wave either inside or in pools of friends and family.  And like every year, we celebrate all the birthdays in June and July which includes Seth and Laura and both my parents. And my mom often includes something small for Kate since she is a December baby and finds birthday candles for other people hard to let go.
Venturing out for walks and outdoor play was limited as the humidity soared for days on end. I missed wandering around the neighborhood with my camera picking wild black raspberries and early wine-berries, but now that I'm in my forties, humidity makes me feel lethargic and grumpy. Ha!

Back in Ontario, the rest of July proved to be less hot, but very dry and we have only finally seen rain in the last three days. So while the sun shone hot and dry, we have ventured all over the place looking for shady trails and cool water to dip into or at least admire; sometimes we bring lunch which always tastes better outside.
